From my first meeting with David and Jessica I knew that we were going to hit it off on their wedding day. What typically ends up being an hour meeting with a bride and groom to go over any questions that they have and get to know their wedding photographer turned into over two hours of chatting. It turns out David also has an interest in photography so much of our conversation continuously went back to the art of Photography.

The day with these two was magical right from the beginning. I spent the morning with Jessica and the bridesmaids getting ready. We then headed over to where the groomsmen and groom we’re getting ready. We had to stash Jessica well trying to arrange the first look. I recommend for any couple that has the chance to see each other before their wedding but still wants the element of surprise to have a first look. I have also found that sometimes there’s more emotion when there isn’t a room full of people watching.

After these two have their first look they decided to do something a little bit unique and different. A foot wash. What a way to start your wedding day.

We then headed to the College Drive Community Church for their ceremony. I have never shot in this church before and discovered that it was extremely orange and challenging. We decided to set up some lights and do something we don’t normally do in churches, combined with the bubbles while the couple was walking Down the aisle after saying their I dos, helped make some really magical ceremony pictures.

After the ceremony we headed to the old Jail Road for some fun bridal party pictures.
We wrapped up just in time to catch the sun set in the riverbottom. This image here has actually been entered into the Alberta image salon and scored a merit. That is a whole other blog in itself but if you ever have some free time feel free to look up the Professional Photographers of Canada. They have helped to take my photography to the next level and I am thrilled that this image will be going onto the nationals next month. Keep your eyes open and I will have a Facebook update when they are scored.

The remainder of their evening was at Country Kitchen catering and hotel Jessica’s brother was the DJ. He brought some amazing purple lights that lit up the whole room and I love how all of these reception pictures turned out.

He also brought a fog machine which in turn may have resulted in me over shooting their first dance. This made some really unique pictures. I have since shot another wedding with the fog machine and the fog was fairly high which actually made the pictures look smoky so if any bride is considering doing this in the future keeping the fog low to the ground definitely will make for better pictures.
