Wedding Q & A

Wedding FAQ

Q: When is the deposit due?

A: Your deposit is due when you sign our contract. Your day will not be booked until the contract and deposit are recieved. The deposit amount is 30% of the total, and the remaining balance is due 3 weeks before your wedding.

Q: How many photos do we get?

A: It depends on your package. Typically you receive 40-50 photos per hour of shoot time. These are the images I have selected and edited.

Q: Can I Get the Raw images?

A: We take more then 40-50 an hour, but I select the best of the best. Some raw images show closed eyes, someone looking away, or a less-than flattering angle. There may be ten of the same pose or group of people, and I pick the best of them. I do include ‘blooper’ photos.

Q: Do you retouch the images?

A: Yes, we retouch all images for lighting. For Formals, we also do skin retouching and blemish removal.

Q: Do I have to order prints through you?

A: Ordering products through a professional lab is recommended, but not required. The difference in quality is substantial, and some labs offer lifetime warrenties. They also offer options not available from online or local labs. I encourage clients to let me help with prints!

Q: How do you dress for a wedding?

A: We wear professional clothing. I avoid dresses, because I’m often climbing or laying on the ground.

Q: How much do you charge to travel?

A: We love to travel! I charge 50 cents per/km for anything exceeding a 50km round trip. If we are traveling for a destination wedding, you pay the hotel and flight for myself and a second shooter, and the wedding is shot for free. We only offer two destination weddings per year (some popular locations have only a small flat rate). Contact us for a quote.

Q: Can family take photos at my wedding?

A: I don’t mind family taking photos, as long as they are not in the way. You’re paying a professional to capture your wedding, and there is nothing worse than a photographer missing ‘the shot’ for an iPhone photo, or a family member obstructing/distracting from an important moment. I recommend an ‘unplugged wedding’, if possible. I provide a web-link with your photos, and it can be sent to anyone to view, download, and share the images from your day.

Q: What do you do if the weather is bad?

A: We always discuss a back up plan, even if the weather is supposed to be great. There are plenty of indoor options, and we have full commercial liabilty insurance which many indoor locations require. We are also glad to work in bad weather, if you are!

We love photographing weddings, we do our best to connect with our clients and capture their day in a way that decribes who they are, while having fun. We love getting to know our couples!
